Invited Session: Quantum Internet at the IPSJ 86th National Convention

2024/03/16
Shota Nagayama spoke in the organized session “Quantum Internet” at the Information Processing Society of Japan (IPSJ) 86th National Convention.
- Date & Time: March 16, 2024, 14:00–15:10 (JST)
- Venue: Kanagawa University, Yokohama Campus
- Speaker: Shota Nagayama (Senior Researcher, R4D, Mercari, Inc. / Project Associate Professor, Graduate School of Media and Governance, Keio University)
- Talk Title: Quantum Internet and Information Processing
- Abstract: A quantum computer is not merely a machine with high computational power; it offers an innovative paradigm of computation grounded in the principles of quantum mechanics. Networking quantum computers to form a “quantum internet” is expected to enable not only cooperation between distant quantum processors but also efficient sharing of quantum-sensing data and cryptographic techniques with strong security guarantees. This talk explores the appealing aspects of quantum information technologies and how this interdisciplinary field nurtures a variety of subfields—particularly those within information processing. It also discusses recent R&D trends, future possibilities, and the current state of international competition in quantum information science.
