Nobuyuki Imoto

He received Master Degree in 1977 and Doctor Degree in 1990, both from The University of Tokyo. He joined Musashino Electrical Communication Laboratory of NTT (currently Basic Research Laboratories) in 1977. In 1990, he spent as a Research Fellow in Prof. Loudon’s Laboratory in Essex University, England, where he met Artur Ekert, David Deutsch, Stephen Barnett, David Bohm, and many other founders of quantum information, thereby witnessing the birth of quantum information science. Coming back to Japan, he first started quantum information research in Japan. After serving as a Group Leader in NTT Basic Research Labs, he joined The Graduate University for Advanced Studies in 1999 as a Regular Professor, and then he joined Osaka University in 2004 as a Regular Professor, and since 2018 he is a Professor Emeritus of Osaka University. Currently he is a Senior Professor in The University of Tokyo, and a Research Fellow in Institute for Photon Science and Technology, School of Science, The University of Tokyo. He is a Life Member of American Physical Society, a member of Physical Society of Japan, and a member of The Japan Society of Applied Physics.
