We have carried out experimental studies on quantum state control of trapped ions including the first realization of the Ca+ optical clock, of the deterministic ion-cavity coupling, of the single-photon generation with engineered waveforms, and of quantum frequency conversion of the single photons to telecom wavelength. Our goal at QITF is to demonstrate of networks of quantum computers based on trapped ions and those of ion optical clocks.
